Inspection of measuring instruments – Certifications

We obtained an accreditation for the inspection of measuring instruments according to SIST ISO/IEC 17020 as a type C inspection authority of the Slovenian Accreditation and received a decision to carry out conformity assessment procedures, issue regular and extraordinary calibration certificates for scales, weights and pressure gauges. The scope of accreditation for the inspection activities is evident from the attachment to the accreditation certificate. In addition to the calibration of the measuring instrument other additional functional tests, which are defined by the Rules on metrological requirements, are also carried out. The inspection can only be performed on those instruments for which there has already been a type examination test in accordance with the Rules on metrological requirements and for which a type-approval certificate has already been issued. The first certification of measuring instruments is provided by the manufacturer or its authorized representative. The regular and extraordinary certifications are performed in periods which are prescribed for
the individual measuring instruments.

Measuring instrument certification

All legal instruments which are being put to use or are already in use, must be certified in accordance with the Metrology Act (Official Gazette of the RS, No 26/05 – official consolidated text).

In accordance with the Rules of procedure for the certification of instruments (Official Gazette of the RS, No 97/14), certification is a process whose aim is to find out whether the instrument meets the mandatory metrological requirements. If the requirements are met, the instrument gets protected and receives acertification mark.

In accordance with the Metrology Act the certification is carried out by the Metrology Institute of the Republic of Slovenia or an authorized legal entity or a sole trader, i.e. appointed person. The criteria for appointed persons, the nomination process, their duties and the type of control by the Metrology Institute of the Republic of Slovenia are defined by the Rules on criteria, the process of nomination, the tasks and control of appointed persons in the field of metrology (Official Gazette of the RS, No 131/04, 71/06 and 64/08) and the Rules on
amendments and additions to the Rules on criteria, the process of nomination, the tasks and control of the appointed persons in the field of metrology (Official Gazette of the RS, No 27/2017).

Our organization/company performs the certification in accordance with the decision on the appointment issued by the Metrology Institute of the Republic of Slovenia and is represented with a three digit identification number “360” which is laid down by the decision on the appointment.

More information about the appointment and the metrology system in the Republic of Slovenia can be found on the website www.mirs-info.si and www.mirs.gov.si.

WE WANT TO INFORM OUR CUSTOMERS THAT THE CERTIFICATION DATA IS SENT TO THE METROLOGY INSTITUTE (website MIRS INFO).
